Madu Ganga is located in Balapitiya, 80 km away from Colombo, close to Sri Lankan southern coastal belt. This wetland spreads over 900 hectares of area and most of it covered with water. There are totally 64 island in Madu Ganga.But today, the number of islands has been reduced. The historical name of this, was known as “maha dupata ati gangawa” (River with the giant island), later the name was changed and became Madu River.
This tour will take approximately 2 – 3 hours.
It is highly recommended to take the Madu River safari when the weather is dry. On windy days with heavy rain, you can get really wet.
Madu River boat tours are still can be done during the whole year. However, on a month during this period, venturing on the boat trip may not suitable due to the heavy rain.
